Xiaomi Redmi 13 4G Goes Official and its Heading Straight for Pakistan, A Vibrant Display;

Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi 13 4G, the latest addition to their budget-friendly Redmi series. This phone is a successor to the Redmi 12 and boasts some key improvements, particularly in the camera department. Let’s take a closer look at what the Redmi 13 4G offers.

The Camera Superstar

The biggest highlight of the Redmi 13 4G is its impressive 108MP main camera. This is the first Redmi phone to sport such a high-resolution sensor, the Samsung ISOCELL HM6. This sensor boasts a large 1/1.67-inch size and features 9-in-1 pixel binning technology. This allows it to capture more light and detail, especially in low-light conditions. The camera also offers 3x in-sensor zoom for capturing those slightly distant subjects.

On the front, the Redmi 13 4G gets a bump up to a 13MP selfie camera from the 8MP one on the Redmi 12. This should translate to sharper and clearer selfies.

Performance and Battery

The Redmi 13 4G is powered by the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset. While not the top-of-the-line processor, it’s a capable performer, especially considering the phone’s price range. The Helio G91 Ultra is a slight upgrade over the Helio G88 found in the Redmi 12. The key difference is its ability to support high-resolution cameras like the 108MP sensor. The phone comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, depending on the configuration you choose. Storage options include 128GB or 256GB.

Another welcome upgrade is the 33W fast charging. This is a significant improvement over the 18W fast charging of the Redmi 12. Xiaomi claims you can fully charge the phone’s 5030mAh battery in about 62 minutes, which is considerably faster than its predecessor.

Display and Design

The Redmi 13 4G features a large 6.79-inch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution. It maintains the smooth 90Hz refresh rate of the Redmi 12, offering a more responsive user experience. The display boasts a peak brightness of 550 nits and uses DC dimming to reduce eye strain. Xiaomi hasn’t specified which version of Gorilla Glass protects the screen, but it should provide some level of scratch resistance.

The phone retains the glass back design of the Redmi 12. It comes in four attractive colors: Midnight Black, Sandy Gold, Pearl Pink, and Ocean Blue.

Software and Pricing

The Redmi 13 4G runs on Xiaomi’s custom user interface, HyperOS. This is likely based on Android 13, but official confirmation is pending.

The Redmi 13 4G starts at a very competitive price of $180 for the base model (6GB RAM + 128GB storage). The price goes up slightly in Europe, with a starting price of €170 (discounted from €200). With its combination of a powerful camera, decent performance, and long battery life, the Redmi 13 4G emerges as a compelling option in the budget smartphone segment.
