We planned to share this review sooner, but Samsung had some issues with the ear tips for the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, causing a delay until late August. I didn’t have any problems with the ear tips, and neither did some of my colleagues who tested early units. It seems to be a minor issue.
Design and Models
The Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are Samsung’s first earbuds with stems. While some think this design is just another AirPods copy, what really matters is how they fit, sound, and perform. Both models score well in these areas, though there are a few small issues.
Model Differences
- Galaxy Buds 3 ($180): These are open-ear buds, similar to the AirPods 3, for those who prefer not having ear tips in their ears.
- Galaxy Buds 3 Pro ($250): These are noise-isolating buds like the AirPods Pro 2, designed to block out more external noise.
Price and Battery
Both models are available in silver or white, and their prices are similar to corresponding AirPods models. Battery life is comparable too: up to 6 hours with noise canceling off and 5 hours with it on for both.
Features
Both the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro have Bluetooth 5.4, are water- and dust-resistant, and support new audio features like LE audio and Samsung’s 360 audio. They also come with wireless and USB-C charging.
Design and Comfort
The Buds 3 Pro’s stem design is angular and might seem plain, but they feel solid. The fit is better than previous models, though a wider range of ear tips would be useful for a perfect seal.
Controls and Usability
The Buds 3 Pro have lights on their stems, which help with pairing and locating them. They also feature pinch and swipe controls for easy volume adjustment.
Performance
The Buds 3 Pro’s noise canceling is effective but not the best compared to some competitors. Their sound quality is clear and balanced, and they perform well in voice calls with good noise reduction.
Final Thoughts
The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offer excellent sound and features, though they’re priced high. If you can find a good deal, they are worth considering, especially if you want premium features and better performance than the Buds 3.
